Robert Adams on Moral Arguments for God

This is a classic essay, and a personal favorite.

I don't get it. What reason do I have for doing what God commands? Adams correctly rejects the view that we should obey an evil deity--one that commands cruelty for instance. He adds that the commands are 'of a loving God', and I agree, I ought to obey the commands of a loving God, but that is only because I think a loving God is also, necessarily, GOOD.
